Our Mission

Making health benefits interoperable.

Understanding health coverage shouldn't require a PhD in reading PDFs. We're building the data layer that powers the next generation of healthcare transparency: normalized, machine-readable, and cited to the source.

The Problem

Critical health plan data is trapped in unstructured formats: SBCs, EOCs, formularies, and marketing flyers. Carriers use different words to describe the same benefits. This fragmentation makes it nearly impossible to build software that compares, recommends, or explains benefits at scale. And when AI extracts the data, a second problem appears: who vouches for the answer?

The Solution

We didn't just build a scraper; we built on a standard. Health Plan API is the commercial implementation of the open-source Benefit Plan Standard (v1.1, with a pharmacy module), an open standard with documented alignment to FHIR. We provide the engine, provenance, security, and SLAs required to run that standard in production.

Standard and implementation, kept separate

The Benefit Plan Standard is open, vendor-neutral, and governed in the open at benefitplanstandard.org. Anyone can implement it, including our competitors. Health Plan API is the reference implementation: we prove the standard works on real carrier documents, and the standard keeps our customers free of lock-in.

Why provenance first

Extraction keeps getting cheaper. Proof does not. Every value we serve binds to a page, a bounding box, and the source text, produced by an independent layout engine rather than the extracting model's self-report. That is the property regulators, compliance teams, and AI builders actually need.

Join the movement

Whether you are a provider group tired of manual coverage lookups, a developer building on benefit data, or a carrier looking to modernize your data distribution, we want to help you build on solid foundations.
